First Fridays are the City of Canton’s free summer evenings downtown, run through its Main Street Canton program. The answer most people need right now: the 2026 season is finished, and the 2027 season has not been announced.

Is there a First Friday this month?
Not until next spring. The City holds First Fridays on the first Friday of each month from May through October, 6 to 9 p.m., with live music, food and late shopping. The 2026 season ended on Friday, Oct. 2. There is no First Friday in November or December, whatever older countdowns on other sites may suggest.

The 2026 season, for the record
Each of these evenings appears on the City calendar with a 6 PM start. All six have passed.
- Friday, May 1: the season opener. The City’s listing gave 6 to 9 PM at Cannon Park and added a Kids Zone and a cruise-in.
- Friday, June 5
- Friday, July 3, the evening before the Fourth.
- Friday, Aug. 7
- Friday, Sept. 4
- Friday, Oct. 2: the season closer. The City’s detail page for this date could not be read, so its date and 6 PM start come from the City’s October calendar view.
We have not confirmed the 2026 performers against the City’s own pages, so we do not list a lineup. Explore Canton’s event pages for some past First Fridays have been taken down, which is why older search results for a given evening can lead nowhere.
When does First Friday come back?
The City had not posted 2027 dates or acts as of Oct. 18, 2026. If it keeps its May to October pattern, the first Fridays of 2027 would fall on May 7, June 4, July 2, Aug. 6, Sept. 3 and Oct. 1. That list is our calendar arithmetic from the City’s pattern, not a schedule. Do not book travel around it until the City confirms.
Watch three places for the 2027 announcement: the City’s First Fridays page, the City calendar and Explore Canton. We add the dates here as soon as they post.
Where First Fridays happen
The City says First Fridays take place in downtown Canton. Its May 1, 2026 listing put the evening in Cannon Park, 130 East Main Street, with food and drink vendors along Main Street. Cannon Park is the downtown park with a gazebo, run by City of Canton Parks & Recreation. The Canton Theatre at 171 E. Main St. and the shops of the National Register district are on the same stretch of Main Street. See the Main Street page for what is on the block.

Parking for a First Friday
Explore Canton warns that street parking and lots on and around Main Street may be limited or unavailable on First Friday evenings. It points drivers to the two-level Canton Downtown Parking Deck at 345-303 W. Marietta St., with 102 spaces and 10 electric car chargers, and to about 118 spaces along Elizabeth Street behind the Police Department, part of which is for city employees. Parking downtown is free, Explore Canton says. More on the parking page.

Make an evening of it
A First Friday works best with dinner on Main Street before the music; our restaurants page has the places within the downtown blocks. The Mill on Etowah, on the river side of downtown, has its own brewery and food; see the Mill on Etowah page.
Evenings downtown before next May
Between now and the 2027 season, downtown evenings move indoors and toward the holidays. The Canton Theatre has shows on its City schedule through December, including The Shining on Oct. 23 and A Dickens’ Christmas Carol from Dec. 4 to 13. The Mill on Etowah holds its Jack O’ Lantern Jamboree on Oct. 24 and 25 and Christmas at The Mill on Nov. 27 and 28. The City’s own downtown tree lighting is Nov. 18, Christmas in Canton is Dec. 11 and the Christmas Parade is Dec. 12. Everything is on the events calendar and the holiday season page.
